Learning outcomes of the course are:

  • To understand the main principles of developmentally oriented assessment and evaluation
  • Familiarise with the key concepts of assessment and evaluation in relation to learning and its pedagogical support at higher education
  • Be acquainted with research-based knowledge of traditional and alternative methods of assessment and evaluation
  • To know various methods and key rationale for formative assessment and ’assessment for learning’ (AfL)
  • To have implemented an small-scale experiment of ‘new assessment methods’ in their own university courses

Course structure

  • 3-day face-to-face workshop
  • Independent on-line and off-line assignment work in small groups
    small evaluation experiments on teachers’ own university courses
  • 2-day workshop (online or f2f) based on assignments and practical assessment experiment

Students can work in small groups (2-3 persons). They work on assignments based on their own schedule and implement their small-scale experiment when it is best suited to their workplace. Written assignments are submitted to the electronic platform. Based on submit deadlines, assignments are given some feedback.
